Entertaiment is the capacity of entertaining, which may be on a very small scale, namely an individual’s choice of entertainment from an ever-growing array of pre-recorded products; a private party for two, or a banquet for thousands; a performance intended for an audience in the theater, concert hall, opera house, film, or television. On the other hand, entertainment may be serious, as in a religious festival, ceremonial observance, or satire.
Entertainment is often focused on themes such as backstabbing and murder, as the human brain was evolved to react deeply to these. It is believed that this allows humans to better function in a social world where they can see the consequences of their actions, in a way that makes them feel less alone.
