Entertaiment

A clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show, or your friends fighting over the last potato chip are all forms of entertainment. The word comes from the Latin entretenere meaning to entertain, or to keep company. It’s associated with hospitality, because you entertain guests by making them happy. Then it came to mean any activity that gives you pleasure or distracts you. Entertainment includes movies, TV, books, music, sports and games, visual arts, and live performances.
